Drie zussen staan op een kaal, zwart vlak. Met enkel hun stemmen en een schoolbordkrijtje als instrument leggen ze de zenuw van hun collectief bloot. Hun familierelatie is er per definitie een waarin balans moet worden gevonden tussen harmonie en conflict, elkaar scherp aanspreken en ruimte geven. Hun muzikale chemie valt naadloos samen met hun zussen-dynamiek. Met hun stemmen openen ze een onvoorspelbare, associatieve muzikale wereld.

King Sisters bestaat uit Joske, Annelie en Marthe Koning. Alle drie hebben ze hun eigen specialisme en achtergrond: theater, muziek en performancekunst. Vanuit hun vakmanschap ontwikkelen ze gedrieën een nieuwe, interdisciplinaire taal, met de stem als de verbindende factor. Ze werken vanuit het spanningsveld tussen hun disciplines. Ze confronteren, versterken en ontregelen elkaar; een monoloog wordt onderbroken door een zangstuk, een zangstuk onderuitgehaald door een performance. Binnen de kaders van de composities is er veel ruimte voor geïmproviseerde muziek. Opgegroeid met invloeden als Laurie Andersson, Nina Hagen en Nina Simone beschikken de zussen over een unieke klankwereld.

Talking Songs is King Sister's tweede performance, en is gemaakt onder de vleugels van Atelier Spr!tzl, het talenttraject van operahuis Silbersee. In 2018 wonnen ze de Best of Fringe Award op het Amsterdam Fringe Festival voor hun eerste performance Song of the Sisters.

Three sisters stand on a empty, black surface. Using only their voices and chalk as an instrument, they expose the nerve of their collective. Their family relationship is by definition one in which a balance has to be found between harmony and conflict, addressing each other sharply and giving space. Their musical chemistry fits seamlessly with their sister dynamics.

With their voices they open up an unpredictable, associative musical world. King Sisters consists of Joske, Annelie and Marthe Koning. All three have their own specialism and background: theatre, music and performance art. Based on their craftsmanship, the three of them develop a new, interdisciplinary language, with the voice as the connecting factor. They work from the tension between their disciplines. They confront, reinforce and disrupt each other; a monologue is interrupted by a song, a song is undermined by a performance. Within the framework of the compositions there is a lot of room for improvised music. Raised with influences such as Laurie Andersson, Nina Hagen and Nina Simone, the sisters have a unique sound world.

Talking Songs is King Sister's second performance, and was created under the wings of Atelier Spr!tzl, the talent trajectory of opera house Silbersee. In 2018 they won the Best of Fringe Award at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival for their first performance Song of the Sisters.
