Land of Soga - refuses to settle in spacetime. Mijn fantasie eigent zich toe door het opnieuw bedenken van een multidimensionale ruimte waar het onmogelijke mogelijk wordt. In dit solowerk wordt performer Mpadire liever de heks-wetenschapper genoemd die door een parallel universum reist en probeert een perfect aangepast fictief lichaam te creëren. Beschreven als uniek, iconisch, immuun, heroïsch en prothetisch verbeterd en dat wit, zwart, geel belichaamt , bruin + queerness die naast elkaar bestaan. Het kader stabiliseert ook een kritisch moment om de persoonlijke geschiedenis van mpadire opnieuw te bekijken met betrekking tot zijn geboorteplaats, identiteit, strijd om zichtbaarheid, animistische overtuigingen en het bezweren van geesten en voorouders, voor gerechtigheid en eer als vertrekpunt voor transformatie en genezing. Hij presenteert deze performance simpelweg door middel van klank- en bewegingsesthetiek, vormen die voortkomen uit zijn actieve lichaam op het podium.

Haman Mpadire is een opkomende kunstenaar, performancemaker en choreograaf geboren in Buwenge, Oost-Oeganda, oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit de Busoga-stam. Hij raakte geïnteresseerd in dans via zijn moeder, die zich de folkgenre-esthetiek van dans eigen maakte en werd begeleid door zijn vader, die eind jaren tachtig bokser was.

Afstuderend in MA Choreografie aan ICI CCN – Paul Valéry University Montpellier, afgestudeerd in Contemporary Dance bij L’Ecole des Sables en ontvanger van danceWEB Scholarship, African Culture Fund Grantee door Foundation Hérmes, Visa voor creation laureate program van het French Institute Paris en Art Omi Dance Fellowship houder – New York.

Haman situeert het lichaam, soundscape, tastbare objecten, scenografie en geschriften om fictie en non-fictieve hedendaagse verhalen te vertellen, multitasking van sociaal-politieke en culturele kwesties tussen verleden, heden en perceptie van de toekomst. Zijn werk onderzoekt ook de representatie van zwarte lichamen, busoga-animistische noties en de veelzijdige relatie tussen identiteit, zichtbaarheid en kolonialisme, in een poging het glazen plafond van geschiedenis en stereotypen te doorbreken.

My fantasy appropriates through reimagining multidimensional space where the impossible becomes possible. In this solo work, performer Mpadire prefers to be called the witch-scientist who travels through parallel universe attempting to create, perfection fictional body that is modified, described as unique, iconic, immune, heroic and prosthetically enhanced that embodies white, black, yellow, brown + queerness that co-exist. the framework also stabilizes a critic moment to revisit mpadire’s personal history related to his birthplace, identity, struggles to visibility, animist beliefs, conjuring spirits and ancestors to arrive, in-order to offer justices and honour their existence as point of departure to transformation and healing. He simply presents this performance through sound and movement aesthetics, forms produced from his active body on stage.

Haman Mpadire is an emerging artist, performance maker and choreographer born in Buwenge, Eastern Uganda originally from Busoga tribe. He became interested in dance through his mother who mastered folk genre aesthetics of dance and mentored by his father who was a boxer during the late 1980’s. Graduating in MA Choreography at ICI CCN - Paul Valéry University Montpellier. He studied contemporary dance at L’Ecole des Sables, danceWEB Scholarship recipient. African Culture Fund Grantee, Artist recipient at Foundation Hérmes, Visa for creation laureate program of French institute Paris, Art Omi Dance Fellowship holder - New York, In 2021, He was announced as international performance Award winner for his work Land of Soga. Haman situates the body, soundscape, tangible objects, scenography and writings to narrate fiction and non-fictional contemporary stories, multitasking socio-political and cultural issues in between past, present and perception of the future. His work also explores, representation of black bodies, busoga animistic notions and multifaceted relationship between identity, visibility and colonialism, attempting to break glass ceiling of history and stereotypes.
