Bij Human Encounters programmeren we korte avontuurlijke performances van talentvolle jonge makers, ervaren makers en onafhankelijk artiesten en gezelschappen. In door curator Vincent Verburg samengestelde solo of double bill avonden presenteren zij hun werk.

In deze eerste editie van Human Encounters tonen wij twee performances op één avond van Nadia Bekkers en Jort Faber.

AIR neemt u mee in de belevingen van Dio tijdens zijn avontuur met zijn technologische danspartner. In zijn zoektocht naar de ideale samenwerking bemerkt hij dat hij niet alleen zijn partner beïnvloedt, maar ook dat hij niet meer de controle heeft. In dit fysieke en acrobatische kat en muis spel tussen danser en drone zijn beide constant op zoek naar de balans tussen mens en technologie. Waar ligt voor u de grens? 

AIR gaat in op de vergaande samenwerking van technologie en mens in de hedendaagse westerse samenleving. Hoe ver gaan wij voor en met onze technologische vrienden? Hoe is het om beïnvloed te worden? En hoe afhankelijk bent u eigenlijk van technologie? AIR gaat in op de vraag wie wie beïnvloedt en nodigt u uit om te onderzoeken wat deze wederzijdse beïnvloeding met u doet.  

AIR is de afstudeer voorstelling van Jort Faber en heeft al meerdere malen op verschillende podia gestaan, onder meer Schouwburg Het Park in Hoorn en het Bijlmer Parktheater in Amsterdam.

Invocations: Uprisings on Translucid Battlefields – Nadia Bekkers

" I must imagine beyond the impossible because the possible already feels impossible. "

This work is a solo, multi-media piece which weaves movement, music, projection and spoken text, tracing a journey of the senses and emotions. A journey of dealing with the acknowledgements that our economic systems are still based on the violent exploitation of peoples and resources, in order to benefit a few. How do the personal and collective responsibilities we have manifest in the way we form ideologies? How do we deal with the daily sadness that fills so much of contemporary societies?

As the mundane experience comes across as completely absurd, I look for spells, I look for magic, I look to my dreams to invoke spaces of empowerment and hope. I embrace the complexity of the many layers of reality and those of my personality, so I can grow. Exploring ways to fight the restrictions imposed on us to keep us from reaching our full potential.

I share this struggle, driven by a cosmic beauty, a hidden harmony and invite you to immerse with me in an embodiment of the power of un-leashed imagination.
