Also this year the PLEIN THEATER participates in the Fringe festival!
For 11 days the Amsterdam Fringe Festival will be presenting theatre and dance by talented new, undiscovered and untamed makers at more than 30 venues across Amsterdam. Fringe is open and uncurated and presents a varied program featuring artists from a wide range of backgrounds, origins and futures. The festival is an ode to independence of spirit and it is a plea for artistic freedom. A big, fat, heartfelt embrace of experimentation in the true sense of the word: one whose outcome is able to effect a real surprise.
Fringe is a platform and a refuge for unique artists and their audiences. Talented young makers, inventors, masters of the niche, forgers of hybrids, out-of-boxers, wildcards and the artistically homeless – either by choice or by chance: they invite you to come on a Fringe adventure to roam the fringes of the theatre and the city. From tiny stages and hidden gems to obscure garages and less cultivated areas.

This year, PLEIN THEATER presents during FRINGE:
‘PANG’ & ‘PING’ - DAPHNE KARSTENS
‘PANG’ & ‘PING’ are the first two parts of the triptych ‘PANG-PING-PONG’. The wearable sculptures are leading the performances through performative interaction in stillness and in movement. ‘PANG’ is inspired by the big bang, the ultimate example of creation, from nothing to everything. Explored through an experimental visual approach on the creation of shape and space. In ’PING’ near-death experiences and out-of-body experiences are the main inspiration. The performance visualizes the struggle of a person submerged in an unknown and ephemeral world, exploring the relation between the physical body and out-of-body ‘spiritual body’.
HE - MARTINA NOVA
A multidisciplinary and experiential performative act for the artist, who experiments with the duality between material and ethereal elements. Helium and hair hang bring her into a state of physical and mental suspension, dissolving the boundaries between body and mind, allowing her to move guided by the wind but also to use the ground to impose her own directional lines. The result is a state of inner awareness in which the mind is no longer engaged but completely absorbed in the experience.

Meet the perfect couple. Their marriage is full of love, laughter and happiness. A true power couple. Now they are here to share their love story. But some things shouldn’t be shared..
BioPower is an intimate storytelling performance which unveils the darker, private struggles of a relationship. They face societal expectations of a man, a woman, spouse and parent. Is their love enough to hold them together?
