Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam devotedly offers a platform for contemporary chamber music. Adventurous and small-scale performances, new compositions and leading musicians; in Plein Theater you get the opportunity to experience new music in an intimate atmosphere every month. The curators and artistic directors of Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam are composer Aspasia Nasopoulou and bass clarinetist Fie Schouten.

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam in Plein Theater is celebrating a five-year anniversary this season! To celebrate this, we have a special promotion and students and professional musicians and composers can go to every Nieuwe Noten concert in Plein Theater for just €10 this coming season!

Kate Moore (composer and performer), Georgie Burashko (singer), Meiyi Lee (percussionist)

From Monday August 12 to Sunday September 1, composer Kate Moore worked on the Ossenlied in her residence in Plein Theater as part of the A Beautiful Path research project.

Western cello classics with Eastern elements featuring cellist Sheng-Chiun Lin, complemented with dance and a walking art experience.

Kate Moore (voice and ancient instruments), Meiyi Lee (percussion), Georgia Burashko (voice), Beate Loonstra (harp), Dario Calderone (bass), Jellantsje de Vries (violin), Susanne Rosmolen (cello)

Inspired by the kinetic physicality and aesthetics of balance found in Ken Unsworth's work, the music embodies a feeling of suspension between movement and stasis.

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam is collaborating with the Orgelpark occasionally this season! The first edition features Nicolas Hodges on piano with music by Evan Johnson and Morton Feldman, and Guus Janssen on organ(s).

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam: The Dream of the Siren
Ensemble Echolab

The Dream of the Siren is a concert program for three acapella voices by Ensemble Echolab (Vanessa Guinadi, Kristia Michael and Jasperina Verheij), exploring the creativity of the future through the archetype of the siren.
