Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam
Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam, the concert series for small-scale contemporary chamber music, is celebrating a five-year anniversary this season! In 2025, the series will once again bring leading musicians and brand new compositions to the Plein Theater and Orgelpark in Amsterdam. With a program full of concerts for the adventurous listener and new innovative music lessons, Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam devotedly offers a platform for audiences and makers. The concerts take place on Sunday afternoons and are preceded by a short introduction by curators Fie Schouten and Aspasia Nasopoulou. Are you a student, composer or musician? Then there is an extra discount on an entrance ticket.
A home for contemporary music
Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam was founded to nourish and bring together a community of performers, makers and audiences in a small concert hall. Curator Schouten says: “This music is not a mass product, and that makes a series like this so important. We offer a permanent place where contemporary music lives, is shared and reaches new audiences. Musicians from different generations meet here, from recently graduated talents to experienced professionals.”

The new year opens on Sunday January 19 in the Plein Theater with Goska Isphording (harpsichord) and Oguz Büyükberber (clarinet and video). They perform two intimate solo works. Isphording plays a program with three female voices, full of purity and profound expressiveness, in which inner conviction and natural beauty go together. With PROCESSING, Büyükberber, as a multidisciplinary artist and 95% blind individual, wants to create a safe space to explore personal trauma in an expressive way.
