De Amsterdamse Winterstal at OBA Oosterdok

At the Plein-Theater we work with a diverse team of people. And you know what's so nice? In addition to our work here, we, the employees of the Plein-Theater, are also found at other places, streets and projects. For example, Bibi (Creative Producer within the Plein Theater) has also worked for the last months on a new form of the winter stable.

Every two weeks the winter stable was knitted,, for example at the OBA on Javaplein ánd at the Plein Theater.  De Winterstal has been festively opened in OBA Oosterdok on December 23 and will be on display and can be seen there in the central hall until February 14.

Studio Brei and the OBA have created a Winter Stable together with 50 knitters from Amsterdam, a life-size knitted ode to Amsterdam. The nativity scene as a symbol, a ritual place where you look and where stories are told, was ready for a contemporary update. The winter stable consists of large knitted images based on figures and urban stories submitted by Amsterdam residents. With the help of knitters from various parts of Amsterdam, we worked on a winter scene that forms the backdrop for various reading stories in the central hall of OBA Oosterdok from the Christmas holidays to the spring break. The stable is soft, colorful, cheerful and stimulates the imagination.

Take a seat on the bench in the middle of the stable and be read and surprised by the OBA programming. Studio Brei is formed by directing theater maker Anne Maike Mertens and visual theater maker Bibi Trompetter. The knitting community is part of the artistic creation and research process of various visual and narrative projects.
