29 AUG 2026 // Plein Theater op het Indische Buurt Festival
Raw punk and queer rap. This were Hondenfokker and LIONSTORM on the Java Stage!
Plein Theater is a new partner of the Indische Buurt Festival. We hosted a stand at the initiatives market and programmed Hondenfokker and LIONSTORM on the Java Stage!
Hondenfokker is an eccentric three-piece band with a sound that sits somewhere between a rave and a riot. They combine raw guitar riffs, beats, and analog synth bass—music made for both the dance floor and the mosh pit. Think of it as a fusion of disco, pop, and punk!
LIONSTORM is the Netherlands' first explicitly queer rap duo, consisting of Ski and Stars. They have a unique, aggressively clownish style that blends rap, horrorcore, reggaeton, and various metal genres. Their music explores themes such as queer identity, female sexuality, and breaking taboos.
The Indische Buurt Festival is an annual, free street festival in Amsterdam-Oost. Held in and around Javastraat and Javaplein, the event is organized by and for the neighborhood to celebrate the local community, culture, and resident-led initiatives.
#GetInvolved
We believe that a theatre is not only a stage, but also a meeting center where artists, local residents, communities, and audiences collectively shape what is presented. Our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key, can be recognised by the #GetInvolved label.
