Trombonist Dalton Harris treedt internationaal op met moderne en historische instrumenten en bracht meer dan 50 werken in première van hedendaagse componisten. Hij werkt nauw samen met Argentijns-Nederlandse componist Cecillia Arditto, van wie hij muziek ten gehore zal brengen tijdens dit concert.

Geluidskunstenaar en wetenschapper Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn is gespecialiseerd in de uitvoering, improvisatie en compositie van experimentele muziek. Als ervaren koperblazerbouwer speelt hij op trombones en andere instrumenten van zijn eigen ontwerp en constructie.

Dalton Harris

Dalton Harris is een trombonist die internationaal optreedt op moderne en historische instrumenten. Hij heeft meer dan 50 werken in première gebracht van componisten als Joshua Carro, Catalina Rueda, Michelle Abondano, Rafael Llanos, Chris Castro en Sky Macklay. Hij is een hofleverancier van historische uitvoeringen en heeft op sackbut opgetreden met onder meer L’Arpe Festanta, La Festa Musicale, het Dresden Chamber Choir en Ensemble Collina. Hij werkt nauw samen met componiste Cecilia Arditto Delsoglio en is in 2024 resident bij de in Tilburg gevestigde analoge studio Het Concreet. Zijn projecten bestrijken eeuwen, onderzoeken de kruispunten van kunst en technologie en bevorderen onderzoekssamenwerkingen tussen allerlei soorten kunstenaars. Naast optredens is Dalton docent en mededirecteur van het New Mexico Contemporary Ensemble, een experimenteel kamermuziekcollectief.

Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn

Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn is een performer, geluidskunstenaar en wetenschapper die werkt op de grenzen van installatie, improvisatie, compositie en vakmanschap. Hij is een regelmatige gast van de belangrijkste nieuwe muziekensembles van de wereld, zoals Klangforum Wien en Talea Ensemble, met wie hij optreedt op vooraanstaande festivals en concertzalen over de hele wereld. Hij is ook een van de oprichters van de experimentele kamermuziekgroepen Hoodwink (met Winnie Huang), Blechtrommel (met Joao Carlos Pacheco) en les Trombones de Bale. Als ervaren instrumentenbouwer geeft hij concerten en bouwt hij installaties met behulp van een verscheidenheid aan instrumenten naar eigen ontwerp en constructie. Hij publiceert over geluidsstudies, artistiek onderzoek en musicologie, en heeft masterclasses en lezingen gegeven in heel Europa, Azië en Noord-Amerika. Zijn recente boek, dis/cord: Thinking Sound through Agential Realism, werd in 2022 gepubliceerd door Punctum Books.

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam biedt een podium aan hedendaagse kamermuziek. Avontuurlijke en kleinschalige uitvoeringen, nieuwe composities en toonaangevende musici; in Plein Theater krijg je maandelijks de kans op dit unieke concept in intieme sfeer te ervaren. De serie biedt de mogelijkheid te reflecteren op de huidige tijd en vormt zo een laboratiorium voor de klank van vandaag. De curatoren en artistiek leiders van Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam zijn componiste Aspasia Nasopoulou en basklarinettiste Fie Schouten.

Trombonist Dalton Harris performs internationally with modern and historical instruments and has premiered more than 50 works by contemporary composers. He works closely with Argentinian-Dutch composer Cecillia Arditto, whose music he will perform during this concert.

Sound artist and scientist Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn specializes in the performance, improvisation and composition of experimental music. As experienced brass instrument maker, he plays trombones and other instruments of his own design and construction.

Dalton Harris

Dalton Harris is a trombonist who performs internationally on modern and historical instruments. He has premiered over 50 works by composers such as joshua carro, Catalina Rueda, Michelle Abondano, Rafael Llanos, Chris Castro, and Sky Macklay. He is a purveyor of historical performance and has performed on sackbut with L’Arpe Festanta, La Festa Musicale, the Dresden Chamber Choir, and Ensemble Collina, among others. He collaborates closely with composer Cecilia Arditto Delsoglio, and is a 2024 resident at Tilburg-based analog studio Het Concreet. His projects span centuries, investigate the intersections of arts and technology, and foster investigative collaborations between artists of all types. In addition to performing, Dalton is an educator and co-director of New Mexico Contemporary Ensemble, an experimental chamber music collective.

Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn is a performer, sound artist, and scholar working around the edges of installation, improvisation, composition, and craftsmanship. He is a regular guest of the premiere new music ensembles of the world, such as Klangforum Wien and Talea Ensemble, with whom he performs at preeminent festivals and concert halls worldwide. He is also a founding member of experimental chamber music groups hoodwink (with Winnie Huang), Blechtrommel (with Joao Carlos Pacheco), and les Trombones de Bale. As an accomplished instrument builder, he performs concerts and builds installations using a variety of instruments of his own design and construction. He publishes about sound studies, artistic research, and musicology, and has given masterclasses and lectures throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. His recent book, dis/cord: Thinking Sound through Agential Realism, was published in 2022 by Punctum Books.

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam offers a stage to contemporary chamber music. Adventurous and small-scale performances, new compositions and leading musicians; at Plein Theater you can experience this unique concept in an intimate atmosphere every month. The series offers the opportunity to reflect on the present time and thus forms a laboratory for today's sound. The curators and artistic directors of Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam are composer Aspasia Nasopoulou and bass clarinetist Fie Schouten.
