Plein Theater looks for youngsters and witnesses for Theater Na de Dam

We are looking for youngsters between 14 and 20 years old for the Theater Na de Dam performance of 2024! Under the guidance of theater maker Anemone Oostvriesland, you will delve into the history of Amsterdam East during the Second World War.

The source of inspiration for the performance is the Abayomi, a doll that enslaved women who were shipped from Africa to South-America, made for their children as an act of resistance. How can you maintain your own life energy, zest and joy in times of oppression and violence?

We talk to elderly people who experienced the war. These conversations form the basis of the research for the performance. For these conversations we are also looking for witnesses from Amsterdam Easty who want to share their stories.

The kick-off will take place on April 19 and 20. The rehearsal period starts from April 23 and largely takes place during the May holidays. The performances are on May 4 and 5.
