Dierenrechten- en klimaatactivist, muziek- en queer feminist - gepeperd met een flinke dosis drag: dat is Soya the Cow. Het alter ego van performancekunstenaar, muzikant en activist Daniel Hellmann, die in Berlijn en Zürich woont, vervaagt de grenzen tussen man en vrouw, mens en koe, en balanceert tussen een serieus verlangen om de wereld te veranderen en een humoristisch gevoel van lichtheid. Na te zijn verschenen bij dierenrechten- en klimaatprotesten, in theaters en kunstfestivals, en meest recentelijk op The Voice of Germany, nodigt de zingende drag cow Amsterdammers uit de stad te ervaren met een nieuw paar ogen.
Voor Try Walking in my Hooves neemt Soya the Cow het publiek mee op een filosofische wandeling door de stad. De focus ligt bewust op de aanwezigheid van niet-menselijke lichamen: honden die hun vrienden uitlaten. Duiven die een monument hebben omgetoverd tot hun toilet. Lichamen van gedode dieren die door mensen door de straten worden gedragen als voedsel of kleding. Soya the Cow nodigt uit tot een verandering van perspectief die visuele gewoonten en zelfbeeld uitdaagt. Op speelse en muzikale wijze pleit ze voor een nieuwe constitutie van de relatie tussen mens en dier, gebaseerd op onze gemeenschappelijke dierlijkheid.

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam biedt sinds 2022 een podium aan genre-overstijgende vormen van beeldend theater en poppenspel. Een versmelting van ambacht en technologie, waarbij traditionele categorieën worden opgeheven voor het oog van de toeschouwer. Plein Theater en Puppetry Workspace trotseren de norm met dit festival vol bontgekleurde visuele uitspattingen uit binnen- en buitenland. QPFA is LGBTQI+ friendly, feministisch, activistisch en bovenal: Schitterend in eigenwijsheid!

Dit jaar ligt de focus op de thema’s het vrouwelijke en de natuur in relatie tot de maatschappij. Het festival en de programmering is pro verbinding en emancipatie, anti oorlog en macht, pro kracht en intuïtie en pro het ongeziene en onbenoembare dat onderschikt wordt geacht in de maatschappij. Vrouwelijkheid, het scheppende, het kwetsbare én Moeder Aarde.

Animal rights, climate activism, music and queer feminism - spiced up with a good dose of drag: that’s Soya the Cow. The alter-ego of performance artist, musician and activist Daniel Hellmann, who lives in Berlin and Zurich, blurs the boundaries between male and female, human and cow, and manages the balancing act between a serious desire to change the world and a humorous sense of lightness. After appearing at animal rights and climate protests, in theatres and art festivals, and most recently on The Voice of Germany, the singing drag cow invites the audience to re-experience their hometown with a fresh pair of eyes.
For Try Walking in my Hooves, Soya the Cow takes the audience on a philosophical walk through the city. The focus is deliberately on the presence of non-human bodies: dogs walking their friends. Pigeons that have transformed a monument into their toilet. Bodies of killed animals that are carried through the streets by humans as food or clothing. Soya the Cow invites a change of perspective that challenges visual habits and self-image. In a playful and musical way, she calls for a new constitution of the relationship between humans and other animals, based on our common animality.
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam offers a stage to genre-transcending forms of visual theater and puppetry since 2022. A fusion of craft and technology, where traditional categories vanish in front of the eye of the beholder. Plein Theater and Puppetry Workspace defy the norm with this festival full of colorful visual outbursts from NL and abroad. QPFA is LGBTQI+ friendly, feminist, activist and above all standing out in queerness!

This year the focus is on the themes of femininity and nature in relation to society. The festival and it’s program is pro connection and emancipation, anti war and power, pro strength and intuition, and pro the unseen and untold that is considered subordinate in society. Femininity, the creative, the vulnerable ánd Mother Earth.
