Katherina Gross

Celliste Katharina Gross begeeft zich graag op avontuurlijke muzikale paden. Samen met lichtkunstenares/scenografe Marion Traenkle en componist Arnold Marinissen creëert zij in 2013 de Cello Box waarmee ze met veel succes internationaal optreedt. In 2014 roept Katharina het project cellomondo in het leven: componisten en hun studenten uit een groeiend aantal landen schrijven voor cello solo. Het project tourt door ondermeer Oezbekistan, NieuwZeeland, Oostenrijk, Duitsland en Nederland, en in 2016 en 2018 verschijnen cd’s met cellomondo-werken bij concertello records. In Pitch Dark, een project met muziek van duo Gross & Marinissen dat tourt vanaf 2017, werkt ze samen met beeldend kunstenares Giny Vos. In oktober 2018 gaat een avondvullend solostuk van Jan van de Putte in première waarin Katharina speelt, zingt en acteert. Katharina Gross studeerde aan de Musikhochschule Köln bij Frans Helmerson en aan de Royal Northern College of Music Manchester bij Ralph Kirshbaum. Zij behaalde verschillende internationale prijzen.

Fie Schouten

Fie Schouten, geboren en nog altijd woonachtig in Amsterdam, is te horen in vele verschillende formaties op podia en festivals wereldwijd. Zij bespeelt alle klarinetten, met een voorliefde voor de lage instrumenten.

Als specialiste in nieuwe muziek treedt zij veelvuldig op als soliste en in kamermuziekformaties, oa met cellisten Katharina Gross, Eva van de Poll, pianiste Keiko Shichijo, basklarinettist Jelte Althuis, accordeonist Marko Kassl, claveciniste Goska Isphording en percussioniste Tatiana Koleva. Daarnaast speelt zij met improvisatoren, onder anderen Guus Janssen piano, Vincent Courtois cello, Wilbert de Joode contrabas.

Veel nieuwe composities werden voor Fie Schouten en haar ensembles geschreven en uitgevoerd. Fie Schouten en Tobias Klein initieerden en hebben de artistieke leiding van het Basklarinet Festijn, met tot nu toe 4 edities: 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020.

Fie Schouten is initiatior en curator (samen met componist Aspasia Nasopoulou) van de serie voor hedendaagse kamermuziek Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam in het Plein Theater.

Keren Motseri

De Israëlische sopraan Keren Motseri studeerde cello en sloot haar doctoraal biologie summa cum laude af, waarna ze haar Masteropleiding voltooide aan de Dutch National Opera Academy.

Keren zingt concert- en operarepertoire van de Renaissance tot en met de 21ste eeuw. Enkele van haar meest opvallende voorstellingen waren met de Nederlandse Bachvereniging (met dirigenten Richard Egarr en Jos van Veldhoven), het Residentie Orkest (Jaap van Zweden), het Asko/Schönberg (Reinbert de Leeuw en Etienne Siebens), het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (Peter Eötvös) en MusikFabrik (Daniel Reuss).

Ze wordt regelmatig uitgenodigd op internationale festivals als  het Holland Festival in Amsterdam, Festival d'Automne à Paris, Sacrum Profanum Festival in Krakow, het Oude Muziekfestival in Utrecht en het Festival de Musica Antiga in Barcelona.

Keren heeft  als veelgevraagd vertolker van hedendaagse muziek in Europa gewerkt met componisten als Kaija Saariaho, Steve Reich, Pascal Dusapin, Louis Andriessen en Michel van der Aa.

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam biedt een podium aan hedendaagse kamermuziek. Nieuwe composities en toonaangevende musici, in het Plein Theater krijg je maandelijks op de zondagmiddag de kans om dit unieke concept in intieme sfeer te ervaren. De curatoren en artistiek leiders van Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam zijn componiste Aspasia Nasopoulou en basklarinettiste Fie Schouten. Beide ontvingen (resp. 2019, 2021) de Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Compositieopdracht Award.

Katherina Gross

Cellist Katharina Gross enjoys embarking on adventurous musical journeys. In 2013 she creates, together with light artist / scenographer Marion Traenkle, the Cello Box with which she succesfully tours internationally. In 2014 Katharina initiates cellomondo, a project in which composers and their students from a growing number of countries write for solo cello. Cellomondo tours through Uzbekistan, New Zealand, Austria, Germany and The Netherlands; in 2016 and 2018 cd’s with cellomondo works are released by concertello records. In Pitch Dark, a project with music by duo Gross & Marinissen premiered in 2017, she collaborates with visual artist Giny Vos. In the autumn of 2018 Katharina premieres a feature-length solo work by Jan van de Putte in which she plays, sings and acts. Katharina Gross studied at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Frans Helmerson and the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester with Ralph Kirshbaum. She won prizes in various international competitions.

 

Fie Schouten

Fie Schouten, born in Amsterdam and still living there, performs in various formations at many different podia and festivals. She has performed all over the world and is playing on all the clarinets with a warm preference for the low ones.

As a specialist in performing new music, she can be heard extensively as a soloist and in chambermusicformations, oa with cellists Katharina Gross, Eva van de Poll, pianist Keiko Shichijo, bass clarinettist Jelte Althuis, accordionist Marko Kassl, harpsichordist Goska Isphording and percussionist Tatiana Koleva. She also performs with improvisers: pianist Guus Janssen, cellist Vincent Courtois, double bass Wilbert de Joode.

Many new pieces are written for and premiered by her groups by composers with very diverse styles and of very different backgrounds and nationalities. Free improvisation appears in many of the pieces. Fie Schouten initiated and leads together with Tobias Klein the Basklarinet Festijn, with four editions: 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020.

Fie Schouten is initiatior and curator (together with composer Aspasia Nasopoulou) of the series for contemporary chambermusic Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam, at Plein Theater.

 

Keren Motseri

The Israeli soprano, Keren Motseri, first studied cello and completed a B.Sc. in biology summa cum laude, before graduating with a Masters degree from the Dutch National Opera Academy.

Keren Motseri has since established herself as a versatile and highly sought after soprano, with repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century in both concert and opera. On the opera stage, she has performed, among others, at La Monnaie in Brussels, the Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival and the Nationale Reisopera. Her opera performances include works by George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, Offenbach and Smetana, and extend into the contemporary repertoire of Pascal Dusapin, George Benjamin, Klaas de Vries and Oscar Bianchi. Her appearances include her debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence as Lei in the opera Passion (Dusapin, with Ensemble Modern and conductor Franck Ollu), Vita in the world premiere of Wake (Klaas de Vries, libretto David Mitchell), A Young Woman in the Night in the world premiere of Thanks to my Eyes (Bianchi, libretto and direction Joël Pommerat) and Into the Little Hill (Benjamin). Some of these roles were specifically composed for her voice.

Notable concert performances were with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging (with conductors Richard Egarr and Jos van Veldhoven), the Residentie Orkest Den Haag (Jaap van Zweden), the Asko/Schönberg (Reinbert de Leeuw and Etienne Siebens), the Dutch Radio Philharmonic (Péter Eötvös) and MusikFabrik (Daniel Reuss). She is regularly invited by international festivals such as Holland Festival in Amsterdam, Festival d'Automne à Paris, Sacrum Profanum Festival in Krakow, the Utrecht Early Music Festival and Festival de Musica Antiga in Barcelona. As a specialist interpreter of contemporary music, she has also worked all over Europe with such composers as Kaija Saariaho, Steve Reich and Louis Andriessen.
 

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam

Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam provides a stage to contemporary chamber music. New compositions and leading musicians, every month in the Plein Theater on Sunday afternoons you can experience this unique concept in an intimate setting. The curators and artistic directors of Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam are composer Aspasia Nasopoulou and bass clarinetist Fie Schouten. Both received the Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Composition Commission Award (2019, 2021 respectively).
