Dwaal als onzichtbare toeschouwer door een intiem ritueel
De term ‘heks’ wordt gebruikt om te onderdrukken, te stigmatiseren, te vervloeken, maar de Heks is zoveel meer. Ze is de wijze vrouw, de ontembare, de heldere. Zij die zich weigert te voegen naar onze systemen. Ze is de oerkracht, de haarscherpe intuïtie waarvoor de moderne vrouw zich doof maakt uit angst om voor gek verklaard te worden.
Niet als het aan haar ligt. Overal om ons heen verschijnt ze. En ze zal vrij zijn.
Met deze performance duiken we in de oceaan van ons collectief geheugen op zoek naar de oervrouw, de heks in ons allemaal. Vanachter haar ogen kijken we mee. Als onzichtbare toeschouwers dwalen we door een bewegend labyrint en komen we belachelijk dichtbij een intiem ritueel van hervinden en reclaimen, van weten en waanzin. Het is tijd om terug te gaan.
Maker Cézanne Tegelberg: “Mijn dochter leert op peuterleeftijd al dat heksen slecht zijn en spoken niet bestaan. Einde verhaal. Maar ik heb haar lief, de heks. Grootmoeder Wilg, Eucalypta, Kali, Baba Yaga. Ik bewonder die vrouw omdat ze zich nooit verontschuldigt voor wie ze is. Misschien is heks zijn niets anders dan de bereidheid om zonder oordeel te luisteren met alle zes je zintuigen. En vervolgens schaamteloos jezelf te zijn. Met deze voorstelling wil ik de heks bevrijden - de heks in mij, de heks in mijn dochter, de heks in het publiek. Niks einde verhaal. Begin verhaal.”

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam biedt sinds 2022 een podium aan genre-overstijgende vormen van beeldend theater en poppenspel. Een versmelting van ambacht en technologie, waarbij traditionele categorieën worden opgeheven voor het oog van de toeschouwer. Plein Theater en Puppetry Workspace trotseren de norm met dit festival vol bontgekleurde visuele uitspattingen uit binnen- en buitenland. QPFA is LGBTQI+ friendly, feministisch, activistisch en bovenal: Schitterend in eigenwijsheid!

Dit jaar ligt de focus op de thema’s het vrouwelijke en de natuur in relatie tot de maatschappij. Het festival en de programmering is pro verbinding en emancipatie, anti oorlog en macht, pro kracht en intuïtie en pro het ongeziene en onbenoembare dat onderschikt wordt geacht in de maatschappij. Vrouwelijkheid, het scheppende, het kwetsbare én Moeder Aarde.

Wander through an intimate ritual as an invisible spectator.
The term ‘hag’ ’ is used to oppress, to stigmatise, to curse, but she is so much more, the witch. She is the wise woman, the untamable, the clear one. She who refuses to adapt to our systems. She is the primal force, the razor sharp intuition from which many a modern woman shuts herself off in fear of being declared insane. Not this time. Not if it’s up to her. She is appearing everywhere, everywhere, and she shall be free.
With this performance we delve deep into the ocean of our collective memory in search of the primal female, the hag in all of us. In search of a song we have long forgotten. As invisible witnesses, we travel through a moving labyrinth and find ourselves ridiculously close to an intimate ritual of refinding and reclaiming. It is time we remember. It is time we return home.
Maker Cézanne Tegelberg: “My daughter already learns at a toddler age that witches are bad and ghosts don't exist. End of story. But I love her, the witch. Grandmother Willow, Eucalypta, Kali, Baba Yaga. I admire that woman because she never apologizes for who she is. Perhaps being a witch is nothing more than a willingness to listen without judgment with all six of your senses. And then shamelessly be yourself. With this performance I want to free the witch - the witch in me, the witch in my daughter, the witch in the audience. No end of story. Start story.”

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam offers a stage to genre-transcending forms of visual theater and puppetry since 2022. A fusion of craft and technology, where traditional categories vanish in front of the eye of the beholder. Plein Theater and Puppetry Workspace defy the norm with this festival full of colorful visual outbursts from NL and abroad. QPFA is LGBTQI+ friendly, feminist, activist and above all standing out in queerness!

This year the focus is on the themes of femininity and nature in relation to society. The festival and it’s program is pro connection and emancipation, anti war and power, pro strength and intuition, and pro the unseen and untold that is considered subordinate in society.
