Ritual Scissors Dance
Een interpretatie van de Scissors Dance, onderzocht met behulp van verschillende poppentechnieken, herschikkingen van de traditionele muziek met elementen van fusion; het biedt een mystieke symbiose tussen de poppenspeler en de danser, die je meeneemt op een opwindende reis naar het hart van deze voorouderlijke Peruaanse Andesdans, die is opgenomen op de UNESCO-lijst ‘Immaterieel Erfgoed van de Mensheid’

Van 3 t/m 7 april presenteren Plein Theater en Cat Smits Company het Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam!
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam biedt sinds 2022 een podium aan genre-overstijgende vormen van beeldend theater, objecttheater, poppenspel én queer perspectieven. In de safe space die het poppenspel creëert, kan iedereen zijn wie hij, zij, hen wil. Plein Theater en Cat Smits Company trotseren de norm met dit festival vol bonte visuele uitspattingen. Queering Puppets is LHBTIQA+ friendly, feministisch, activistisch en bovenal schitterend in eigenwijsheid! In deze derde editie is het thema Weapons of the weak.

An interpretation of the Scissors Dance, explored using various puppet techniques, rearrangements of the traditional music with elements of fusion; providing a mystic symbiosis between the puppeteer and the dancer, that takes you into an exhilarating journey to the very heart of this ancestral Peruvian Andean dance, that has been included at UNESCO’s ‘Intangible Heritage of the Humanity’ list

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam
From April 3 to 7, Plein Theater presents the Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam together with Cat Smits Company!
Since 2022, Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam has offered a stage for genre-transcending forms of visual theatre, object theatre, puppetry and queer perspectives. In the safe space that puppetry creates, everyone can be whoever he, she, them is. Plein Theater and Cat Smits Company defy the norm with this festival full of colorful visual outbursts Queering Puppets is LGBTIQA+ friendly, feminist, activist and above all standing out in queerness! In this third edition from April 3 to 7, 2024, the theme is Weapons of the weak.
