On Sunday April 2, EAST&, the Pop Up Cultuurhuis in Amsterdam East, hosted a program for and with Amsterdam East together with the Queering Puppets Festival!
EAST& Queering Puppets Festival
During the day between 12:00 and 17:00 there was a festival for the neighborhood in and around the Plein Theater on the Sajetplein next to the Oosterpark. There were activities and workshops for children and adults, musical acts by Visual Sound Art and DJ ROOSPEEE and the public square was freely accessible to the neighborhood!
In the Plein Theater there was the performance EXUVIA by 't Magisch Theatertje, in the chapel of Hotel Arena you could visit the immersive performance HAG by Cézanne Tegelberg & Company and on the Sajetplein stood theatrical installation Headspace by Electric Circus!

In the evening we celebrated the closure of the festival, together with Hotel Arena and Trans Amsterdam with the EAST & PARTY in the chapel of Hotel Arena!

EAST & Queering Puppets Festival invite you for a cultural get-together and party on Sunday evening April 2 in the beautiful chapel of Hotel Arena!
Here we look ahead to EAST& in Amsterdam East and celebrate a spectacular closure of the Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam, which will take place that week in Plein Theater and Hotel Arena.
We create something special together. That's why we don't throw a party for Amsterdam East, but wíth Amsterdam East. The evening is queer-friendly and is all about radical connections and new collaborations, with dance hits by DJ Je Moeder, acts and performances as the binding element!

> Animal rights and climate activist, music and queer feminist - peppered with a good dose of drag: that is Soya the Cow

EAST& is the Pop Up Culture House of Amsterdam East where collaboration is key and connections are made between residents, cultural and social institutions and the many talented and diverse makers in the district. A pro-active and inclusive network organization where makers and organizations find each other. An initiative by Plein Theater, Framer Framed, De Rode Loper op School and Production House Nowhere.
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam
28 March – 2 April 2023
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam offers a stage to genre-transcending forms of visual theater and puppetry since 2022. A fusion of craft and technology, where traditional categories vanish in front of the eye of the beholder. Plein Theater and Puppetry Workspace defy the norm with this festival full of colorful visual outbursts from NL and abroad. QPFA is LGBTQI+ friendly, feminist, activist and above all standing out in queerness!
